Singular Collection

LIMITED COLLECTION
INSPIRED BY A MOTOR YACHT BUILT BY DE VRIES & VAN DEN BERG DUTCH SHIPYARD IN 1976
STEEL - 18 TONS
SINCE 2023

During the spring 2023, our design studio initiated the renovation of a steel vessel with full overhaul. The outside work has been operated by Knappen Sjø in Norway with full sandblasting and repainting of the hull and decks. When that has been achieved, we focused on the interior design; we realised as insight that maritime components such as lightings, switches, outlets, steering wheels are homogeneous in their normative design, which is contradictory with the insights of boat owners and their strong desires to create bespoke experience onboard, with often a less dominating financial break to it versus land homes. We worked for many years within commercial vessels interior design with several maritime collections for Vestnes Ocean Group. This is the first process we initiated within private market ones.

Singular

As designers, we decided to allocate ressource to explore and craft a new collection of bespoke objects, inspired by maritime use, for marine and land use, empathizing biobased materials embedding vernacular compositions, patterns and colours. We will invite a selection of Norwegian stakeholders of this project and market value chain, such as research, industrial, commercial partners, to join this exploration at early stage to ensure a strong project belonging and anchoring into our respective strategies; it will also secure the possibility of scaling up this speculative collection in private and professionnal markets, and put Norway on the map as leading innovative actors within marine industries. Our work will documented in this project page.
